Webinar: Online careers fairs - what are they and how can graduates prepare for them?

University fairs and careers fairs have been impacted by the pandemic’s social distancing measures, which has resulted in many institutions and organisations making the decision to host careers fairs virtually for the next few months.

In this webinar we discuss what students can expect from online careers fairs and how to best prepare for them. Each member of the panel has been involved, either as an organiser or an attendee, in an online careers fair since the start of the pandemic. They brought us their insights into what an online careers fair consists of, how students can best stand out when attending and what employers are looking for when they’re in front of the computer screen at a virtual careers fair.

We also talked about some of the potential pitfalls of attending a virtual fair versus one in person, covered some more niche tips for international students and looked at how not to sound ‘creepy’ when following up on LinkedIn.

The panel:

  • Aisling Ni Mhiuri, events manager of Gradireland
  • Ugochi Nwachuku, early careers recruiter at Marsh & McLennan
  • Orianne Wightman, senior talent acquisition partner at Experian
